Postcards
Postcards are small, convenient, and attention-grabbing. You can think of them as mini billboards that are being sent directly to prospects' houses or places of business. They get their point across quickly and easily and since they're usually pretty small in size, the result is a cheaper method of marketing.
One thing to keep in mind is that as easy as it is for people to glance at your postcard and grasp your message, it is that much easier for them to toss it in the trash if they don't. A good strategy to follow is to design something that people wouldn't mind hanging on their refrigerator door. You should create an image that easily understood while using bright colors to ensure attractiveness.

Here are some tips on how to make sure your postcard is eye-catching, striking and most importantly, memorable.
1) First ask yourself some questions whose answers will serve as a starting guide for your design efforts.
Why are you doing this postcard mailing? For new clients? Retaining existing clients?
To whom are you going to be mailing these cards? If you don't have a mailing list just send them out to people you know; hopefully they will provide you with addresses of people they know who would be interested in what you have to offer.
2) Get ideas on what you want your postcard to look like by searching through fonts, colors and graphics.
- Fonts
-Fonts are classified into families, based on shape, size and specific features of the letters.
-Stretching or elongating fonts distorts the type and reduces their legibility; most fonts are designed to look best the way they are.
-Avoid combining two decorative fonts because they are designed to stand alone in contrast to a sea of ordinary text.
- Colors
-You want to be sure that your color scheme is less accidental and more deliberate; use the color wheel! And try not to use more than two or three colors in a design.
- Complements: colors opposite each other on the color wheel; blue and orange, for example.
- Monochromatic : tints and shades of the same color; lighten or darken an existing color.
- Achromatic : a color scheme using grays and blacks; although it gives off a professional look, it can seem lifeless. You may want to use this scheme and add just one color to stand out.
- Primary Colors : red, yellow and blue make up the primary colors; when in doubt, it's a good scheme to rely on.
